PM Modi pledges a Uniform Civil Code in Assam ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections.

Stalin’s rallies are drawing crowds in Tiruchirappalli, and the political atmosphere is growing more intense by the day.

The political landscape across the nation buzzed with energy today, the 2026 Assembly elections heating up considerably. Prime Minister Narendra Modi spearheaded the BJP’s efforts in Assam, with identity and security taking centre stage.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. The DMK’s southern bastion felt the influence of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin.

Assam: PM Modi’s Pledge on UCC and Tribal Safeguards

During a massive election rally in Gogamukh, Dhemaji district, Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared the forthcoming election a battle for Assam’s “very identity.”. He unveiled a significant policy: the BJP’s commitment to implement the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) while simultaneously safeguarding the distinct rights and cultures of the state’s tribal communities.

PM Modi also took aim at the opposition, asserting that a Congress victory would lead to the passage of laws benefiting “infiltrators”.

The Prime Minister contended that the Congress Party’s goal was to shift the majority community into a minority, effectively creating a permanent vote bank of those outside that demographic. “The BJP and its allies will never allow such a scenario,” he stated emphatically.

Legislators are advocating for laws that would protect people who come into the country without permission.

Stalin starts the “Nine-Segment” offensive in Tiruchi, Tamil Nadu

The DMK’s campaign machine intensified in the southern region. On Wednesday, Chief Minister and DMK President M.K. Stalin held a giant rally in Tiruchirappalli to introduce the party’s candidates for the nine Assembly segments in the district.

This comes after the DMK announced its list of 164 candidates on March 28. Some important parts of the DMK strategy are the following:

M.K. Stalin wants to be re-elected from Kolathur, where he is powerful.

Udhayanidhi Stalin, the Deputy Chief Minister, is back in the fray, aiming for the Chepauk-Tiruvallikeni constituency in Chennai.

His address focused on the “Dravidian Model” of governance, and he made a sharp distinction between this approach and what he labelled as “external interference” in the state’s internal affairs.

The BJP in West Bengal is countering the TMC’s assertions regarding “dietary restrictions.”. Cultural divides remain a prominent issue within the state. Dr
Sankar Ghosh, a BJP MLA and the party’s candidate for Siliguri, took issue with Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s recent statements.

Banerjee cautioned that a BJP-led government could potentially limit access to fish, meat, and eggs for the populace.

Dr Ghosh labelled the statements “misleading” and “divisive” in his response.
“These assertions bear no relation to our cultural landscape,” Ghosh stated. “The BJP honours the diverse traditions of Bengal, and these claims are simply a ploy to intimidate voters.”

With the initial round of voting on the horizon, the narrative is divided: the BJP’s “National Security and Identity” platform in the north and east and the DMK’s emphasis on “state autonomy” in the south.
